OBITUARY ---------------

JANE EMELINE STAFFORD

Redwood City Democrat

June 30, 1910

Mrs. Jane Emeline Stafford, a well known and respected resident of Redwood City, passed away peacefully at her home on Stambaugh Street Saturday morning. Mrs. Stafford, while not in robust health, was far from being considered dangerously ill and when her daughter, Mrs. Rossell on entering her room in the morning found her mother dead, she was shocked beyond expression. Mrs. Stafford passed away in her sleep. The deceased was a native of Maine, aged 62 years, and came to California with her first husband when a very young woman. In 1863, she was married to the late John Stafford, for many years a local citizen and member of the board of supervisors. She leaves four children H.S. Sears, Mrs J.L. Ross, Mrs. Frank Rossell, and Thomas Stafford. The burial took place from the family home on Sunday and was attended by many friends and neighbors. Rev. C.C. Kirkland conducted the services at the house and the body was interred in Union Cemetery.
