MEETS VIOLENT DEATH

An inquest into the cause of the death of Mrs. Victoria Rodriquess, found dead last Sunday at La Honda, was held in Redwood City yesterday by Coroner Brooke. Several witnesses were examined, but no new light was thrown upon the tragedy. The jury returned a verdict that the "woman came to her death from a gunshot wound in the neck, causing hemorrhages and inflicted by parties unknown."

The remains of the woman were found in a ranch house on the Larry Kelly farm near La Honda last Sunday by Maurice Rapley who at oncve notified the authorities. Deputy coroer John Layng and Under Sheriff Lampkin were soon at the scene of the tragedy. From a casual investigation it was thought that the woman was murdered the Wednesday before. A gunshot wound on the side of her face was the work of some unknown person. Antone Gomez who lived with the woman is supposed to have committed the foul deed. He was seen on Wednesday before at Mountain View where he borrowed money from friends. The Sheriff's office is running down all lews and is in hot pursuit of the fugitive. Mrs. Rodrigues was a house keeper for Gomez. It is supposed that in a quarrel Gomez shot her and then made his escape. The funeral took place from the Redwood City Undertaking parlors on Wednesay nad interment was in Union cemetery. She is survived by three sons and a daughter. Two of the boys attended the funeral.
